SUNTHEANINE® is used in Calming Support, and is a patented form of l-theanine that is patented for its enzymatic process that results in an enantiomerically pure L-thenanine. This is not an extract of green tea but rather is produced via a patented process that mimics the natural process in green tea leaves, resulting in a 100% pure L-isomer-theanine.

FAQs

Is this product safe for children?

At Neuro Nutrients, we only use ingredients in products that have been studied in children, and specific to the age rage suggested on label. All of the ingredients in Calming Support have been studied in children; l-theanine- down to 8 years, passion flower down to 6 years, and inositol down to age 5. In clinical practice, we have used this combination of nutraceuticals down to age 4. As always, please consult your health care provider for a personalized recommendation.

Why did you put this formulation in a powder?

Due to the amount of ingredient required in each serving for a therapeutic effect, we chose powder for the delivery method, otherwise each serving size would have been multiple, large size capsules.

What is the best liquid to mix this powder in?

This powder can be mixed with just water and the taste was reported as “neutral” in our control group during product development. If you or your child has a more picky palate, you can mix it in juice, or a preferred liquid, to administer.

What are the potential side effects?

In general all of these ingredients are not known to cause side effects and are well tolerated. If you are dosing the formula outside of the recommended ranges and frequency, you could experience tummy upset (diarrhea or bloating). If this occurs, you simply titrate down on the dosing and the symptoms should resolve quickly.

What time of day is this best taken?

Calming Support can be taken any time of day. If enhancing sleep is a goal, then giving Calming Support at night could be useful. If the intended use of giving Calming Support is to help with hyperactivity and anxiety, it can be given at the beginning of the day. Some families will benefit from dosing Calming Support twice daily (given in the morning, and evening). For a more personalized recommendation, please consult your health care provider.

Can I take this with other psychiatric medications?

In general, taking Calming Support with other psychiatric medications should not cause harm, and has a high potential for benefit, depending on the drug. Many brain stabilizing medications actually cause nutrient depletions, especially B6 and magnesium. A caution to consider would be if you are taking drugs that cause sedation. As always, for a more individualized recommendation, please consult with your health care provider.

Does this formulation create a habit forming dependence like prescription drugs to reduce anxiety?

Calming Support has no habit forming ingredients in the formulation. Unlike prescription drugs, such as benzodiazepines, who have a strong profile and warning for dependance, there are no concerns with the natural ingredients found in Calming Support.
